About Me

I am a lecturer at the University of Denver Institute For Public Policy Studies where I teach graduate and undergraduate classes.

I retired from the Securities and Exchange Commission in 2006 after 31 years as an enforcement attorney. I was the manager of litigation for the SEC's Denver office for 15 years and supervised all SEC litigation brought by that office. This involved a caseload of 80-100 pending cases and supervision of 6 lawyers and 2-3 paralegals. I was counsel of record in dozens of SEC cases and supervised the investigation, settlement and trial of hundreds of SEC cases.

I have extensive experience in all aspects of trial and litigation of complex securities law matters in federal court and SEC administrative proceedings.

I was lead counsel for the SEC in its pending action SEC v. Nacchio  and in the SEC’s case involving frequent mutual fund trading,
SEC v. Invesco Funds, Inc.. That case resulted in $325 million being returned to investors.

I publish a blog commenting on SEC administrative proceeding opinions at www.SECteaparty.blogspot.com
.  This blog is listed in the American Bar Association Journal's index of law related blogs.

I am available as an expert witness and for case advice and consultation, mediation, and alternate dispute resolution.
